At what age do toddlers stop trying to eat the sensory bin objects?

I'm wanting to make a sensory bin for my son sort of like the one pictured, but at what age will he no longer want to eat everything in it? I know that to some extent kids will always put things in their mouths, but about when does that start to decrease?

Each child is different but usually around 3 or 4 lol.

You can always do a sensory bag instead until he’s a little older. That way he can’t get anything out. Or just do water and some bigger toys he cant put in his mouth (though water gets messy)

My daughter is going to be 2 and still puts things in her mouth. You can do a jello dig. Something edible.

My son stopped at like 2, but yea every kid is different. Haha. I feel like I was probably one of those kids who did it for like 5 or 6 years or something.

I teach preschool. Usually about 4 they stop... “my” 3-year olds will still put things in their mouth... especially if it’s new!

My first never was the put stuff in her mouth type at all. My second was much more so but at 18m he’s mostly over that. I’d say around 2 from my experience with my kids but also the many other kids I’ve been around. Definitely some kids keep doing it until 2 or 3 but I’d say they are less common.

My daughter is 18 months and I make sensory bins for her. I use kinetic sand, Pom poms, water, and other things like that. I had a bunch of plastic straws from years ago and I cut those up into 2 inch pieces and used those in a bin as well. She love is all. The kinetic sand is new as of a few days ago so i haven’t put anything in there yet.

My son really stopped around 18-20 months hes 2 now and i tell him not food and he doesn’t put it in his mouth

Mine started putting stuff in his mouth when he turned 3 🙄 Thought that would’ve stopped after he spent a night barfing raw black beans but nope.
