So what’s on everyone’s mind? The corona virus. I work at McDonald’s and I always work in the first window that you come to. So I deal with money and cards. We all know how nasty those things are. I have been told by many customers that I am being very unsanitary because I don’t wear gloves. My fellow employees have also been told the same thing while they were in that window. So for anyone reading this, think about this before telling that person in the window to put on gloves.

I work a five hour shift. Let’s say I come in and clock in, wash my hands and put on my gloves. Well we don’t have enough gloves for us to change them in between every customer. We receive at least 500 cars during my shift. You can’t wash gloves. If I touch every person with those gloves then I could give tons of people the Coronavirus if just one of those people have the virus, just by wearing those gloves.

Now, I come in and I clock in, wash my hands and go straight to the window. I’m not being unsanitary because I’m not wearing gloves, I’m actually helping not spread it because I can use hand sanitizer which is right beside me and if we are not too busy I can step around the corner and wash my hands in between customers. It is also very hard to count change and grab cash if I’m wearing gloves.

Most people don’t realize that we are pushed to have our customers at our window for under 15 seconds, i can usually have people at my window for 12 seconds. If we waste time and go slow it wouldn’t be called a FAST food restaurant, and we have been told that our hours will get cut if we don’t work fast. So before you tell someone at a fast food restaurant that works in the window that they are being unsanitary by not wearing gloves think about this first please.

Edit: if we are making food then we are required to wear gloves and we do but we are not required to wear them in the window. At least not at my Mcdonalds.
