Do non criminal paedophiles deserve compassionate therapy and treatment? This is stemmed from a comment in another post. I had a client who was a pedophile but one who had not committed any sexual acts, he only had desire but never acted on it. It was nearly impossible to get him treatment, he wanted to volunteer to be chemically castrated because he did NOT want to act on his urges. It tore him up that he had these urges and he was highly suicidal, I tried and tried to help him get a doctor who would do a chemical castration and I found that without someone being a sex offender it's almost impossible to get them treatment. This to me is a disgrace and I beleive that the stigma against non criminal pedophiles is a huge reason they dont get help along with the fact that there isnt much help available until they commit a crime. I know this is a triggering topic and that it may seem like I'm siding with paedophiles and maybe I am but only because I beleive that if they could have treatment in a compassionate way BEFORE they committed a sex crime then many children could be saved from abuse. What do you think? Do paedophiles who do not act on their urges deserve compassion and treatment?
