So as I said in my heading out I am 10 weeks today and The other day I seen a bunch of ladies on this app talking about a specific type of blood test that can be done at the doctors office to find out the gender very early on. Well needless to say that blew my mind I did not know that was a thing I thought it was only for women with high-risk pregnancies.

So last night I contacted my doctor through her messenger app and asked her if it was possible that I get that done. Due to personal reasons of my mother has stage four bone cancer And has been battling it for a few years now but she has never looked this bad before. My mom has always been a fighter but at this point she’s tired of fighting and the only thing she wants is to have a granddaughter seeing as she now has three grandsons. She feels that she’s not even going to make it to the birth of this baby. So being a mamas girl I just want to give her that. Well my doctor emailed me back and said I need to call my insurance people to see if it is covered so, what do I do? I called them sit on hold for 15 minutes for them to ask me 1 million questions and then turn around to tell me I need a specific code for them to look it up.

After being totally frustrated she tells me I have to contact my doctors office. OK that’s not so bad. I get up, walk in the living room, I call my doctor And I explain to the receptionist what is going on and what I need. She has nooooooo idea what a NIPT test is at all. 🤦🏼‍♀️ So she transferred me to another lady who I have to explain the whole story to again she has no idea what I’m talking about so they finally transfer me to billing I explain to the lady what I’m doing once again third times a charm right? She does not know the test that I’m wanting done but I explain to her what it is and she looked it up in the computer says she has to message my OB/GYN and get the code because she’s not sure where to get the code or what all I need and said she will call me back later on today. This is a step in the right direction for sure but I just wanna get it done to know so fingers crossed my mom finally gets her granddaughter. She would be happy with a boy but we all (me and my sister) know she wants a girl. Keep me in your thoughts y’all. If I don’t get the testing done I’ll have to just sit around the old fashioned way and wait till my gender sonogram :)
