Can I get a faint line on a pregnancy test because of the time frame?

Idk if that made sense but I got a positive pregnancy test (with a faint line) I was too nervous to look at it so I came back to it after an hour of taking it. Saw the faint line and I freaked out. I heard tests will show a faint line after letting it sit for some time & I also heard the time thing is a myth.

Most pregnancy tests are invalid after a certain time frame - like 5 minutes, for example. It's best to check the package to see what this test's time frame is. You could always test again to be sure :)

When I first found out I was pregnant with my son 6 yrs ago...I left it in bathroom my ex's oldest child went and told me it's negative so I took a quick shower to go to er for serve stomach pain got out of shower and it was positive so I had the er confirm it was positive...I agree with other women saying the time frame matters for a correct reading

If it's after the time frame listed on the package, the results become invalid. Even more so because you didn't look at the test prior to the time limit, so you have no idea if it was positive within the proper timeframe. After a certain number of minutes the urine starts to evaporate and that can cause the test strip to start showing a line. That's one of the ways people can get false positives...because they look at it after the time is up and see a line, when in reality the lie is only there because evaporation has started to occur.

In other words, take a new test and look at it before the time frame is up.

In my experience, any color to the line is a positive.  However, my non pregnant hcg level is 1.  If someone has a non pregnant level of 5 it could cause a faint line after an hour of sitting out.  Test again tomorrow and toss it after 10 mins.  Good luck!
