Is anyone a CNA??

***Basically asking whether it’s worth it or not***
So I went to college for a year to become an RN. My husband ended up joining the military and we moved to a different state where I haven’t picked up any college again. I have always wanted to do something In health care but don’t want to be extremely in debt. I’m also 14 weeks pregnant and don’t want to do years of schooling either. My dad has MS and I’ve always had to help take care of him - give him shots, medication, showers, getting him dressed, helping him go to the bathroom, etc. I always enjoyed it. Now I know helping someone else is completely different and a lot of people don’t like CNA work because it’s basically “grunt work” but is it really all that bad? I live in Arizona so its only 120 hours to become certified. Is it worth it? Be as honest as possible! The good, the bad, the ugly... I wanna hear it all. TIA!

I am not a CNA but I am workers compensation lawyer. I will say that they get injured A LOT! If the work means a lot to you then it’s possibly worth it but it’s very hard on the body.

I've been a CNA for 10 years. I recommend it for anyone thinking of going into healthcare. Some people get through nursing school then discover they hate it after getting licensed. It's not clean or glamorous but it's good, honest work and you'd always be needed. 
Honestly, it all depends on the day and the patient. Some days are "this is why I do what I do" days, some days are "you are the reason I drink" days.

I am a cna in Illinois at a nursing home and I absolutely love it. I have always been a caregiver though. I knew from the beginning that this is what I was supposed to do. I love my residents and they become family

I'm a social worker but decided to switch gears and am applying to nursing schools. I had to do the CNA course before I could start applications. If you've already been in school for a year towards RN maybe you should look at seeing if any of those credits transfer? It may not be as quick or cheap as the CNA course but you'll have more opportunities for employment and financially

Im a CNA its hard on the body but i get oaid well im also in school to become a nurse i say try it out it wouldnt hurt

I LOVED it! Emotionally it’s a very rewarding job. YOU are those patients/residents person. It can also be a lot emotionally though aswell. I will say you do not get paid anywhere close to what you deserve. You’re like the lowest paid employee there even though you’re the one doing all their care. I mean really - people look down on CNA’s but they’re seriously the backbone in facilities. Yes LPN’s and RN’s are aswell.. but in my opinion CNA’s do not get anywhere close to the recognition and praise they deserve and it’s very easy to feel undervalued. It’s ALOT of work that also takes a huge toll on your body. A lot of CNA’s get very frequent injuries. It really has its fair share of pro’s and con’s.

iv been a nursing assistant for almost 4 years, i started at 16 ... i’m 19 now. i have my days where i just want to walk out .. and days where i tell myself that it’s not bad. everyone has their own experience .. the hitting and behaviors are the hardest things to care for if you have 0 to little experience, but once you get the hang of it you know that person and why they’re having those behaviors. people say it’s grunt work .. until they have to put their grandparents into an assisted living, then they’re  thanking you for everything you do. i won’t lie it sucks having to see the things that you see but i absolutely love all of my residents .. they are the best. try it out, it won’t hurt ❤️
