Do we choose our feelings??
Just a random philosophical question that I thought would make for an interesting discussion (maybe, I could also just be real
High) .
Do we choose how we feel?
I know it sounds weird, but I remember this topic being brought up in my EQ classes. Let’s say you’re in a situation where you can be upset about something and “give your energy up” by being upset, or you can keep that “energy” and choose to channel that into something more positive or useful to your life/existence.
Example;
Your s/o cheated on you.
You can
A. Be upset and/or depressed and waste more energy on someone who clearly doesn’t care.
B. Channel that energy into leaving that a-hole and “Glow up”
The point in this “lesson” was to help us become aware of our emotions. Like in the example .
My bf cheated on me,- problem
I felt super hurt- feeling
then when I realize I’m hurting and can either continue choosing to feel hurt, or choose to feel/be better-Solution.
Which brings me back to the topic question. “do we choose how we feel”
There was so much more to this lesson, that gave us tools to help cope with major events like this such as the book “the 4 agreements” (if you’ve read the book you may understand more what I’m talking about) but that’s a completely different philosophical discussion.
