Fathers and newborns

My daughter's father is in our lives and I love him but he isn't as involved with our 2 month old the way I am. He only takes her if I ask, most of the time. He has a 9 year old from a previous relationship n is very hands on with her.

Just to share I never wanted kids and when I got pregnant I was so sad and unsure of everything but I stuck it out and grew to love my baby thankfully n I love her more and more everyday. But when I see her dad be do distant it makes me feel like I'm in this alone and I've come so far with being pregnant n having her it stresses me that he is this way.

Is it expected for fathers to be this way with newborns?
