Handed down baby products?

Question

What are some handed down products like furniture, crib,, high chair, stroller, car seat, etc that are okay to use? Any suggestion on what to do if using them. Thanks everyone. First time mom here.

Things that should be new: car seat(s), mattress, pacifiers, nipples for bottles. 
Also check how old things like the stroller and crib is, be sure that it's not recalled or so old that the safety standard have changed.

You should always use a new mattress to reduce SIDS and a new car seat as you never know if a second hand one has been in an accident. Otherwise pretty much everything else is good second hand just make sure to clean it properly.
