tubes tied-too young?

hello ladies, i just turned 22 & i have a 3 year old son. at this point in my life i want to focus on law school & becoming a lawyer and even though a baby won't stop me from achieving my dreams i dont think i want more babies lol. i have not seriously spoken with my partner (my sons father) but im scared if i tie my tubes he will change his mind eventually. i live in new york & i'm not sure if there are age restrictions & i asked my mom but she's pressuring me to have another child.

I say don’t do it. You don’t even know if he’s going to be your life partner. What if you want more kids once you have your career? I think you’re too young to make that decision.

Tying your tubes so young would definitely be a mistake. I only say this because you specifically said "I dont THINK I want anymore children". If someone is going to get their tubes tied they have to KNOW they dont want anymore kids. And they should have known it for quite along time. There aren't any laws saying you cant have your tubes tied in NY but you'd have an extremely hard time finding a doctor who would agree to preform the procedure due to your age.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. There are so many human beings in this world. If everybody would stop producing so many damn kids and just be happy with the one or two, The population would have never been so bad. You have experienced conceiving, carrying a baby, labor... you have had it all.
Obviously you are going to have a good career. Stable money. I think if you and your husband changed your minds later in life you could always talk about adoption. So many kids already that need a home, why make more?

It's not his choice it's yours. Once you make up your mind, find the right doctor that will answer all of your questions and concerns. Then move forward from there. Theres not an age limit to being done with having children or having children at all, it's just a matter of personal choice.  You know what's best for you! Good luck!

I would say to look into IuDs. They’re long term, low maintenance, and if you change your mind about wanting more kids later, you can easily have the IUD removed

I think reproductive rights should go BOTH ways. If you choose that you don’t want anymore there should not be any more pressure to do so. 
I do not want any children and I hate that I’m not allowed to make that choice for myself to be sterilized

Do it... Just get the reversible kind... Good luck hun... I also don't want kids and im getting my tubes tied (im 26)... If you've made up your mind about it don't listen to people here because they won't take care of your second kid for you... So discuss it with your partner but just know u have the final say... Stay strong... U got this
