TB treatment in Pregnancy?

La

I just started a new job and have to have a tuberculosis test done before I could start. To my shocking surprise, I tested positive! I was 9 weeks pregnant with a baby my Husband and I have been trying to conceive for over a year and eventually, thanks to fertility treatments and IUI, conceived!

Now my physician and the infectious disease doctor that was consulted want me to start TB treatment while pregnant which lasts NINE MONTHS. She assures me that it’s safe during pregnancy, which matches the research I found but there doesn’t seem to be a lot of long term studies done on the babies. I can’t help but feel that any pharmaceuticals during pregnancy pose a huge risk to my baby, and I don’t want to risk it. Any symptoms, hardships, or struggles down the road with my child I will blame on this treatment and feel regret. At the same time I am putting myself in danger as pregnancy can trigger my latent TB to become active..

I tend to side on the more natural/holistic approach. However, I am curious if anyone in here has had to make this same decision?? Any advice or experience would be helpful!!
