Weaning baby off dummy

Does anyone have any advice for weaning baby off a dummy ? (Pacifier I believe its called in America 😁)

My 5 month old relies on it to go for naps and for bed time, I can't get him to sleep without it. He also cries in the night and he immediately goes back to sleep when I give it to him.

Just wondering if anyone has managed to successfully wean their baby off it? The advice here in the UK is to stop using them between 6 and 12 months so I'm trying to prepare! 😊
