Best care for thick curly hair in a dry climate?

So I have super thick and curly hair and I live in an extremely dry climate, and before I cut my hair last year it was extremely long and healthy, and now it’s just brittle and almost back to its original length and I’ve tried everything to get it back to healthy and soft. I need help!
