Pillows and blankets?

Does your little one sleep with a pillow and blanket? If so is this considered safe?

Sleeps with a sleep sack on and has one light blanket in his crib that he hugs onto and he has one stuffed animal that he uses as his pillow. His pediatrician told me it was safe for him

Mine sleeps with neither but my first started sleeping with a blanket at 6 months (discused with his pediatrician and he said it was ok because he was use to it). At 12 months they can sleep with blanket and stuffed animals and that is considered safe as long as neither are heavy. Pillows aren’t recommended until 2 years old, my 2 1/2 year old just started using a pillow. My one year old doesn’t seem to want anything other then this little stuffed puppy and a pacifier so that’s what he sleeps with.

we use a very lightweight one just for comfort. i have caught him with his head covered during a nap so i would hesitate to use anything thicker at this age. no pillow.

I think it depends on what your little one is used to. If it’s safe, I’m not sure... but she doesn’t pull it over her head or anything, it’s purely comfort for her and the risk of sids does dramatically decrease after a year. My girl has been used to a blanket since birth though. We always use a light weight muslin blanket, occasionally a knitted one if it’s particularly cold. She lays down and I will cover her no higher than her armpits. She moves around and will slide out of the blanket most nights but when she wakes in the middle of the night, she looks for her blanket to go back to sleep. We do a flat pillow on occasion too (it’s also wide enough that she can’t slip off). It really helped when we started sleep training, I think it mimicked the feeling of laying on mommy, so it calmed her down quickly. But we only bring the pillow out on rough nights.
