I was dilated to 5 cm at 39 weeks and still went a week to my due date. I had been dilated from about 36 weeks as well as having constant Braxton Hicks daily for few months. Dilation doesn’t mean he will necessarily come early. I do look at it as a positive though your body is prepping for delivery and hopefully make things go quicker when the time comes. By the time I felt my first actual contraction I was in transition and labor was quick and easy. Good luck.
