How often do you wash your hair ?

I’m mixed Pr , CV , Native American, Portuguese I’m light skin with straightish wavy hair. I live with my Mother in-law with my SO and daughter we moved to mass from Arizona. Now my SO is Haitian and every time I give my daughter a bath she always has a slick comment about her being black I don’t have to wash her hair every time she’s not like me with “white people hair” I don’t always wash her hair when she has a bath but since she has very curly 3c hair I always put her hair in like ASAP rocky or pop smoke braids lol just because it’s easier for me she doesn’t like to sleep in a bonnet and when her hair is in a fro when she goes to sleep it gets really really tangled and she doesn’t like when I comb her hair. I’ll wash her hair about every 3 to 4 days I don’t like going any longer than that because her hair gets so dry. Am I not supposed to wash her hair just because I’m not black and don’t have the same hair type ? She says she’s joking but she always has to bring race into everything the involved me and my daughter I can’t stand it so my question how often should I be washing her hair.

Once a week, if that. There are products designed to add moisture to that type of hair without washing it. I have 4C hair and I wash every 2-3 weeks.

Honestly, I think she’s just trying to help you out. I think you should take this as an opportunity to learn more about black/mixed hair instead of getting mad when she makes comments like that. Not saying I know everything about black hair cause I definitely don’t, but my son’s dad is black and I’ve done a lot of research on how I should be caring for my baby’s hair. Every 3-4 days seems like a lot to be washing her hair, it should probably be more like once a week, that could be why it’s drying out? And like someone else said, there are products that can be used to add moisture. 
Again, I’m no expert so you should probably discuss it with your SO’s mom because she probably knows what she’s talking about, or do your own research when it comes to her hair.

I'm white and wash my hair once a week. I know nothing about different types of hair, but maybe rather than being upset actually sit down with your MIL and ask her what tips she has for looking after your Baby's hair or what she would do differently. I know it can be hard when someone (even jokingly) criticizes your parenting but in the end we all want what's best for our kids, so maybe it's worth just sitting down with her and having an honest / all jokes aside chat?

Once a week, I used to wash my hair everyday and it would get greasy the same day and it stayed the same length for years. I stopped washing it so frequently and it started getting super long and alot more shiny.
