COVID-19 What are your predictions?

Question

Just curious as to any indications you all have about covid-19. Right now our hospital is not allowing mother’s to have any visitors and only
the father is allowed in the room. We are in Idaho. If it gets worse my OB said I will be delivering alone. He said things will either be much better by July or much worse. What do you guys see happening?  What have your OB’s told you? I am due July 8th.

I'm in the UK so a little different (not much) and my midwife either expects the same as current or for things to be better starting mid-late June. So still some restrictions in July but not as bad most likely. At least that's what she said a week ago, and the receptionist said the same when I asked what they were being told to prepare for.

And if not, I will not be allowing them to tell me my husband cannot be there with me! 🙅🏼‍♀️ That’s not right!

I feel fortunate that our hospital has an amazing staff of doctors and nurses. With my first, I had an emergency c-section and my husband wasn’t allowed in the room until the baby was out. He still saw some stuff he says he wouldn’t want to see again through the door window lol.
Ultimately, I just want baby to be safe and if that means even my husband wouldn’t be allowed, I would be ok knowing that it’s for our safety. I understand how scary it can be especially for first-time moms to not have anyone around. But if you have a good hospital staff, you will be loved and well taken care of. My nurses did so much for me, took care of me, changed all diapers, fed my baby, burped him, and kept me company. Really awesome and I hope that they’re the same for the 2nd time around.
But yeah we women are awesome and strong and we will get through the pandemic. I would prepare for the worst (no one allowed) and hope for the best. Good luck to all mamas and I hope everyone and their babies stay safe and healthy!

They did that here in my local hospital. They weren’t going to allow the fathers in at all, but a petition went out and it got so many signatures saying it was unethical and two days later they went back to allowing one support person(since some women dont have the father to look towards for support)

I am in New York and while my doctor said the virus *might be better by then that hospitals will be the last to lift their restrictions. Right now one birth partner is allowed in the delivery room but must leave 2 hours after birth.

In Mass we are just having the husband there which I’m fine with because he wanted his mother present during my labor and yea no that wasn’t happening so I’m very happy with this restriction.

I think it could go either way so I am preparing for a home birth just in case they won’t let the fathers in....like in New York. giving birth alone would be devastating. Right now I am planning on having a hospital birth, but if things hit the fan and get worse I will be prepared do to a home birth with a doula. If things get worse I don’t know if I would feel comfortable having a baby in a hospital. I feel like the risk of getting coronavirus would out weigh the risks of a home birth. It’s a scary time for us. Just making sure I am prepared whatever happens!!

I think there will be lots of cases still in July. I am in Washington state so have been staying at home for over a month now. We are only allowed one support person and they are screened upon entering the hospital for fever and all that. I think it will be the same by July and hopefully not worse. 
Once they try to reopen the country and stop social distancing gradually cases will start spreading again and there is no vaccine or treatment yet. I think they are going to attempt some form of reopening in June. S o, I hope what happens is that they start reopening by this summer only if they are more prepared to treat another wave of cases and we reopen gradually and practice some form of social distancing still like no large events or gatherings and keeping socializing outdoors. Thats my hope, but I have my doubts that is how it will go unfortunately.

I live in Ontario, Canada.. and my province has declared a state of emergency until the end of May.. so we are basically on lockdown and told to stay home until then, and then they will reassess and see what to do. 
My scheduled csection is for July 6, and my OB assured me our hospital will allow my husband to be there for it.. but we also have a 2 year old at home that we will need to get someone to watch her. 
It's a stressful time, but I'm just grateful that we are all healthy!

I’m due mid-late July, I’m preparing myself to deliver alone essentially. I live in Oklahoma and the local hospital here is only allowing one support person, they must pack their own food, anything they need for the duration of labor/delivery/after stay with baby, and they are not allowed to leave and come back, meaning if they leave, they’re gone for good. We have a two year old daughter who has never spent the night alone at anyone’s house without us, as well as the only ones who could watch her are MY grandparents (I don’t have parents anymore), so given that’d be hard for her and them to keep up with a toddler, I’m very very likely to have to go at it alone. It’s scary, many tears have been shed and will be shed trying to get used to this idea of being alone.
