Thoughts on playpen?

Okay so what are your thoughts on playpens? Not pack n plays, but the gated play area. I never used it with my five year old- or 11 month old for that matter, BUT we’re moving and the girls’ playroom will be in the basement. Also I’m due with another baby in November. Worth it? Or waste of money and just put a gate at the basement stairs?

Not a waste of money at all. I didn’t wanna buy one at all lol I thought it was a waste but my husband insisted and it literally is amazing, he plays and is safe and loves it! Also due in June so it’ll get its use 😝

Can you make the entire basement safe for baby to explore without you supervising over his/her shoulder? Then do that! But it’s not always practical, and then a big gated pen is great. We have one in my large office space. Theoretically, baby can play safely while I check email. Realistically, I’m allowed to go pee on my own.

We have the gray & white one too.  It’s been wonderful.  My mother in law is staying with us to help out with the baby & she leaves the gate open when she can keep an eye on the baby.  Baby loves to go in & out of it.

I’ve never used one because I don’t have the space. I think at this point my baby would kill me if I got one lol he’s so used to roaming the house on his own.

I personally don’t use one except outside in the hard because she wants to get down and explore but also don’t want her crawling on concrete or eating leaves lol. Inside we just have a baby gate and have baby proofed everything already from our 2 year old so we just let her crawl around and explore and shut doors if we need to

We love ours. They can play for hours in it. We often unhook it and it serves as a large gate to block our hallway and front door. But we only do that when we’re in there with them. We have a Noa Mat under it which is soooo worth the money.

We love ours! We use it when we need somewhere safe for him to play although the dog likes to sneak in for a nap 😄

I love our play yard! It keeps her out of trouble and her toys from getting everywhere!

You should just put a gate at the stairs. I have a play pen but that’s because our house is old and  small. It keeps her away from all the stuff that could hurt her when I need to clean.
