Giving baby water? Advice please 💧

At our six month appointment we were rather in and out due to everything going on. The focus was checking baby’s development & shots. One question I wanted to talk with the doctor about was water. My girl is doing purées and exclusively fed breastmilk. Do I start water? How much? Filtered water okay? What kind of cup? Any suggestions would be nice. Thank you!!

From what I have read and heard babies under one don’t really need water  besides what is in their breast milk/formula. I don’t know if you pump at all but you could always pumps/express a little so you could put that in a cup for the practice or to have a little drink while eating.

From what I’ve researched it’s 2oz a day in a sippy cup. I used 360 cup with my first and will again with this baby. It is not necessary to do, but fun to get to see then experience it.

We starting giving our six month old water after we started solids, her pediatrician advised that it would help with the constipation she started to get since starting baby oatmeal and solids & she also said that it allows them to get used to the taste of it bc she has seen toddlers refuse to drink water bc they’d prefer milk. 
We’ve just been putting some in a 3 oz bottle with a nipple, she never drinks it all.

They don’t really need it as per the other commenters.
However the last week I have put 2oz of cooled boiled water in a 360 cup for her to try the cup out, I can and do express milk but because she’s not got the hang of it yet and milks only good for so long out the water will keep for a good few hours.
She manages a couple of sips but rarely takes more than half an oz at the minute 
Once she gets the hang of using the cup and drinks to quench a little thirst I will definitely switch to milk x

Typically now it’s just a very tiny bit to mix with foods or drink with foods. I can’t remember the amount but it’s pretty small. They aren’t suppose to drink water until 1yr old.
