Starting solids / allergies

Ha

So we recently started trying solids, Id spoken to my GP because we think but aren’t certain if she has a mild cows milk allergy just off the back of how her eczema would flare up.

Not really any issues with breastfeeding though, I’m not 100% dairy free but because she was so fussy about 2 months ago I cut down at my drs advice and I don’t know if that’s helped with the fussiness/eczema or getting her reflux medication sorted or just the fact that she’s getting bigger.

So when it came to solids we started taking a BLW approach and our first few meals were dairy free anyway and as I batch cook we often eat the same things 2 nights running (roast dinner, spaghetti bolognese, jacket potato). Dr advised to keep a food diary so if we needed to look further into the cows milk intolerance we could do.

We tried some toast with a touch of normal butter on Sunday, she was okay with this if not for a tiny bit of eczema flare up on her cheeks so we noted it.

We decided to try eggs yesterday morning and she had an allergic reaction 😩 within 10 minutes she was covered head to foot in a red rash and hives and I was petrified incase it got worse. I just soaked a Muslin cloth with cold water and pressed it to her face which was affected the most. I also didn’t want to end up in hospital as our hospital is a bit of a covid-19 hotspot. We called 111 for advice but by time a clinician phoned us back you’d never know it had happened. Within the hour it had all faded and she was babbling away again. So I’m thankful that compared to how I know bad some reactions can go, this was somewhat mild.

My nerves get to me at the best of times but now I feel a wreck 😩

I joked to my other half last night, how much more does this bubba want to throw at us? Ongoing physio (cancelled at the min) due to issues with her shoulder mobility after she broke her collar bone being born. Hip dysplasia, pending surgery & 3 months in spica cast (which she should have had by now but it’s been cancelled too due to the pandemic). And now allergies to watch out for. They come in 3s right 🤞🏼🥴
