Life Venting (Need Advice)
I’m unsure where to post this. I just need to vent. So Easter Sunday tornadoes came pretty heavily through the south. One EF-2 hit our house. Luckily, our house is quite strong but the 2 giant oak trees 10ft beside it, not so much. The trees hit the edge house with such force it broke the supports, foundation, all the important structures. We were informed by insurance today that the house is a total loss and can’t be repaired. Insurance payout to rebuild is $68,000. However, we owe my husbands grandparents, whom we were buying the property from, $43,000. They have a lean on the house so most likely that money will directly go to them. They get paid $1,500 a month from us and land payments. We asked them if they could give the 43K back to us to rebuild and we continue paying them like we were to begin with. But they’re not the most generous of people and said “it’s out of their hands” that if they’re given 43K they have to keep it for themselves. (They don’t) so now we will have 5 acres of land with no property on it and $25,000 to rebuild an entire house. Oh and we have 2 small children and I’m 6 months pregnant. Even if we get a loan, it won’t be a big enough loan that we could afford. Life is just in the shitter right now and I’m practically homeless. I can’t deal. If there are any legal people out there is there anything we can do if our payments weren’t through a mortgage company so we can get the full 68K to build our home back instead of my husbands greedy “family” taking it out of spite?
