When do you start to potty train?

My husband thinks we should wait a few more months! He will be 1 in a week and has been walking for 3 weeks! I want to start now while we both aww working from home!

I wait until they’re old enough to tell me they need to go.

When he is talking more and can understand better. He is walking alot but if he can't communicate there is no point

Don't do it until they are ready and curious about it or you are gonna have a baaaaadd tiiimmmmeee
Why rush them? Make it a good experience for both of you. 
I am not even going to thinking about trying until my son asks me try it.

I personally will be waiting until closer to 2... at this point it will be a lot of work for to help them become potty trained, to learn their cues, help them recognize it and communicate likely with signs at this point but not impossible!

Depends on the child. I was potty trained by 14 months but I lived with 1 yr older cousins so I wanted to be like them. I think it’s easier if your child has older siblings. There are also cues to look for like pulling at their dirty diaper or hiding behind something to go pee/poop. My son is already doing that but I probably won’t start to potty train for a bit longer until he consistently doesn’t pee during a nap. That’s just me though.

Kids don’t have bladder control until at least 18mos. We started last summer when he was 2.5. We’re about 60% there and he just turned 3

If you force it when they arent ready it back fires.  My oldest was allowed to use pull ups until he was ready. He was fully potty trained when he turned 4 and it was his choice...he never had night time accidents or anything. My nephews parents were more “in charge” of the process and would force my nephew to go to the toilet even when he didn’t need to and would punish him if he didn’t do it by taking away special outings or privileges. He is now a 6yr old who still sleeps in diapers because he wets the bed every night. Sad but true. Kids nee to be taught to trust their own bodies instead of being forced or coerced when they aren’t ready.

If you’re interested in started early look into Elimination Communication (EC). It’s where you offer the baby the potty from early on (I’ve done it with my son almost since birth) but it’s the parent that has the responsibility of it. Google it if you want to learn more.

My son potty trained in one day at age 3. Daytime and night time.  Refused anything before then even though we planned on starting at age two. It was when he decided. My point is... I'll wait and see when my daughter is ready. 😌
