Bedtime nightmare

Okay, I don’t really know how to put this into a Google search (believe me, I’ve tried every night for weeks now) so I’m reaching out here. We start Gavin’s bedtime routine around 6:30: bath, jammies, swaddle, white noise and I generally nurse him to sleep but I didn’t tonight (did before bath). EVERY. NIGHT. he wakes up crying about 5 times from 7-9 PM. We go in pick him up get him calmed down, drowsy, put him down. Starts crying. Pick him up, he screams/cries for what sees like an eternity, bounce/sing to sleep, put him down. Sleeps for 15 minutes. Repeat. Once he finally falls asleep he’s down until about 2 AM.

He gets about 3-4 naps during the day.

This has been going on for about a month now. He’s 4 1/2 months. Before that he would generally only wake up once and we would bounce/shush/sing to sleep & he’d be out for the night.

Is it teething? Is it a leap? Is it sleep regression? Is this normal? What are we doing wrong?

Sincerely, A mama who can’t stand to hear her baby scream one more night.

P.S. It’s 9 PM and he’s wide awake rn
