Need...but I'm not harsh about it. I say it with words like "out of concern" "or just being cautious" or "just looking out for you" or "out of love" ...because sometimes people can become defensive if you use the wrong tone/words. I believe if you're a decent friend, you should be honest if you feel that something is not right. As you get older, you realize that the best relationships/friendships are the ones that push you & help you to grow.

kind of a mixture of both honestly. i'm always extremely nice in the way i say things when i tell them what they need to hear but usually i'm the more positive friend and want what they usually want or what they want to hear in a way. for example if my friend is having guy trouble or issues i usually tell them to stay positive and etc

it depends on the situation. I never lie to my friends, but if they need some hope in a hopeless situation, there’s no way I’m gonna take that away from them for the sake of “realism” (which is usually just pessimistic bullshit anyway. most of the time, if I’m asked for advice or help, it’s always what they need to hear.
