When did you feel like you had a true bond with your child?

For me it was up and down due to horrible postpartum depression. I felt an instant connection; but for awhile it was like I didn’t have any emotional connection just instinctanal love but then it would be like my heart is so full of love for this tiny child I’d cry because I was so underserving of it all. After I finally got help everything eventually calmed down emotionally and I was truly able to connect with him

I never had a close relationship with my family and grew up pretty detached from them. I didn’t feel an immediate connection with my newborn and I think it’s because of this. But now she’s 1 year old and I’m in love. It definitely took me some time.
