Is spinal tap and epidural same? Is the procedure same or different. I had an epidural labor in my first pregnancy 5 yrs ago and it ended up in emergency Csection.

Now I have opted for Csection in my second pregnancy ( due to other medical reasons ). The doctor said I'll be given anesthetic via spinal. So I'm curious if it is administered like epidural?

Will they insert a needle/tube like thing into my spine and keep it in place like the epidural or is it an one time injection.

I'm so nervous and scheduled for a Csection on May 8th!!
