Should i cash my tax check? *READ DESCRIPTION FIRST*

Question

So i filled my tax by mail last year because it kept getting rejected online. When IRS mailed my check they made an adjustment so instead of getting $3000 i got $2000. 
The letter they included stated if i wanted the original amount $3000 i have to provide some documents blah blah. I just mailed them the documents and i know they will take forever to get back to me due to COVID-19. 
Should i cash the $2000 check given or wait till they correct it and mail me the correct check?

They may just write you a check for $1000, id say just cash it, if it bounces you know they’re rewriting the whole check

I’m pretty sure they are not cutting you a new check because they would need to cancel that one. They will just send you the difference.

If you need the money right now then cash it, otherwise I'd wait to cash it so you can get the bigger amount

Oh dang.  I don't know. If it were me I would put it in the bank and not touch it until I knew it was good.
