Being induced at 39 weeks

Courteney • 21• Cincinnati• Girl momma 💕

I just found out that since I’m taking gestational diabetes’s oral medication it now means i have to be induced at 39 weeks also my baby is breeches. So I’m super nervous, induction was never part of the plan and now finding out the baby is still breeched stresses me out even more. I want to have my baby natural and try not to be induced.

What are some ways you ladies have tried to natural induce yourself?

And also if you were induced before due date how did your experience go?

There’s still time for your baby to turn around. Also, nothing you do will induce labor. Baby will come when they are ready.

If your baby is breech then you would be getting a c section and not being induced.

Oh trust me girl, when my OB told me that i said i would just schedule a c-Section no way I’m going to risk it.

Yikes there’s no way I’d have a vaginal delivery if my baby was breech. I’m a labor and delivery nurse and have seen very preterm babies almost die because they get stuck during a breech delivery. None of the OBs I work with will do them unless the patient literally come in and the baby is almost out and don’t have a choice. Too risky!

My doctor told me that he would do a vaginal delivery as long as the baby is under 7lbs 7oz. But I’m wondering if they do my 39 week ultrasound and see the baby is still breech if they would just schedule a c section instead of induction.

My OB yesterday said my baby was finally head down, she has been breech this whole time. But he also said, while still pre-term, baby could flip back to breech on the walk to the car and not to worry about position until 37 weeks. I have to be induced for my labors, I don't seem to go into labor on my own. Hoping maybe this go around my body will figure it out on it's own (my 4th). I have been induced at 38 weeks, 40 weeks, and 41 weeks. 38 weeks I had to have a c-section, but there were lots of mitigating factors on that one. However, if your body is already starting the labor process induction resulting in vaginal delivery is more likely. You can have your doctor do some natural induction methods prior to induction appointment. Some people have success with sweeping the membranes. Other people have success with acupuncture (check with your doc first). A midwife recommended to me to insert vaginally evening primrose oil pills at night to try to induce labor. Sex as well as time spent on a large exercise ball can help as well. Those are all shown to be scientifically effective. That said, it doesn't work for everyone, but they are great methods to get your body to say it is ready to make induction easier/faster/more successful.

Thank you so much. If you don’t mind me asking how far along are you? I’m 32+2.

Idk about trying to induce yourself, but I just started an online birthing class yesterday and the lady talked about getting on all fours for 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening to allow baby room to move around easier if they're breech.

But this early on baby can still move a lot so just cause baby is breech right now doesn't mean they will be weeks from now

Oh heck no, I wouldn’t be keen for being induced if my baby was in the breech position! Hopefully baby turns before then 🤞
