Student loans

I’m starting to get nervous about student loans. I was thinking about living in a dorm next semester but I’d be taking out loans and I’m only going into my sophomore year. Doing the math it would cost about 80 grand for room, food and tuition for the next 3 years. I have 30 grand that is helping toward that so it brings my total down to 50 grand. My question is, is that too much student debt? I can live with my family but it’s a long drive and I’d rather live on campus. Is it worth 50 grand? How much have you taken out in student loans? Is this average or too much?
