Cannabis and breastfeeding?

Question

Anyone occasionally smoke cannabis for appetite/anxiety/insomnia/etc while breastfeeding? 
I’ve read mixed things about it. Most of the things I’ve read is that it’s not proven that it can be dangerous for the baby but just want to see experiences from anyone else on this forum. If you have something negative and judgmental to say please save your comments, therefor this is why this breastfeeding forum is made for any questions to be asked in regards to breastfeeding. Thank you!

I personally wouldn’t. Sure there isn’t any evidence to say it’s super harmful, but there also isn’t evidence that says it is safe, so I’d stick to the cautious side & not. Maybe talk to your dr about it? Or see if they have any suggestions about CBD instead since it doesn’t contain the THC that gets you high. Always better to ask your dr first tho

Look babygirl you do what you think is right for you I’ve seen people smoke all throughout there pregnancy and there babies come out healthy there’s a group on Facebook you should look at it’s very helpful  it’s called Mother Mary community and it’s all moms who either smoke during there pregnancy or mothers who smoke and are breastfeeding 😊 then know more than judgmental women here who don’t support any of it . I highly recommend looking at the page and see what you think. I hate for people to use children against mothers to make them feel quilty over something that should be classified as a drug because it all honesty it’s not one and it has so many benefits and no side effects beside hungry and sleepy.

As someone else said, they prescribe crazy stuff while pregnant. I was prescribed morphine. If that is fine why wouldn’t weed be?

There’s moms on all sorts of pills for different health issues while breastfeeding, weed isn’t going to hurt you or your baby. I’ve been smoking every night since my baby was born, she’s 10 weeks and starting rolling over, cooing, smiling and laughing far earlier than most babies. She is perfectly healthy and doing amazing. Don’t let people scare you when they know nothing about the amazing benefits of cannabis 💚

They had me on percocet every 8 hours in the hospital after birth while nursing.  I honestly don't think a little weed is any worse than that.  Do your research,  but I think it's fine in moderation.  It's a personal decision.

There are studies showing delayed motor development. Also, if you smoke it can be on your breast milk for at least 6 weeks.

I smoke pot. My daughter is 6 months old and I test my breast milk with an at home drug test once a month to insure nothing is passing! So far so good

Yeah I’m gonna go ahead and say hell no to that one. When they say it hasn’t been proven to be harmful all that means is that it hasn’t been studied. Not that it’s not harmful.

I would wait at least a few hours before nursing baby, maybe bottle feed and skip one or two nursing sessions. 
It's not proven to be bad, but there's not enough research to prove whether or not it's harmless. Either way, you're not "dragging" your child by consuming marijuana anymore than bfing moms who need antidepressants, etc.

I wouldn’t chance it.  While you haven’t found anything saying it’s harmful, there also isn’t saying any amount of it is safe either.  Just keep that in mind. You should probably ask a doctor this question as they have much more knowledge than anyone on the internet.
