Cleaning bathtub

I never have been big on baths, I prefer showering. Now that I have a new baby I want to start taking baths with him and having him take baths in the tub when he outgrows the sink. I normally clean it with method brand shower products when needed but now I’m wondering What do you clean your bathtubs with before you take a bath? Also how long do you wait before you get in after cleaning it? I just want to make sure it’s clean and safe for me and my little guy haha I understand that some people don’t clean it before each bath but I personally find that gross😬 Thanks ahead of time 😇
