She’s here! **Update** meet her big sister!
Baby girl made her appearance and she’s so tiny! I was due May 6th but my c section was scheduled for April 29th. My baby girl had other plans! On Wednesday morning, April 15th, I woke up around 9am with some contractions. I was 37 weeks exactly and mucus plug had started to come out that Tuesday.
I hadn’t started timing them yet but they were at least every 10 minutes or less. I tried to get as much sleep as I could before me and my husband got up with our daughter (18M). She is a sleeper! I laid there until 10:30 and I just couldn’t get comfortable anymore. My husband got up with my daughter and started cleaning the kitchen while I just took my time getting up and ready. We thought eventually they would stop. Well they didn’t and once we started timing them, they were every 6 minutes. Around 12 I call my dr to tell her what’s going on. I knew with me being a repeat C section, contracting, and my plug coming out, she would more then likely want to check me! Wrong. She wanted me to go to the hospital instead. Luckily my dr was the one at the hospital that day. Thank God.
I struggled this whole pregnancy with unknown cause of pelvic pain. I couldn’t do anything. I was basically on bedrest because any kind of activity would kill me. I wouldn’t be able to do anything without help and that’s hard for a SAHM of an 18 month old.
So we got our bags ready, the car loaded, and my nana came and picked up our daughter. We made it to the hospital around 3:30 and by this time my contractions were every 4 minutes. After going through screening and registration, we got in a room a little after 4. They got us hooked up to the monitor and checked me. I was a 1. Got my iv going and some blood draws, asked us a million questions and then left us for a minute. We figured we would be monitoring for awhile but then sent home because I was only 37 weeks and 1 cm dilated. After a few minutes the nurse comes back in and says she’s gonna shave me just Incase my dr decided to go ahead and deliver today. We say okay. We haven’t called any family yet because we don’t want to get hopes up for nothing. Well about 10 minutes later here comes anesthesia to talk with us and sign paperwork. His remark as soon as he walks in is “So I hear you’re having a c section today” my husband and I looked at each other, laughed and said apparently. We signed paperwork and he left and that’s when my nerves took over! I started shaking and just couldn’t help it. I knew I was having a c section the whole pregnancy but all of sudden it was happening now!
My dr came in and said she knew at 37 weeks baby could have some issues but felt like it was time since I had had so many problems during pregnancy and my body was already starting labor. She said we would be in surgery in the next 30 minutes. 😳 so we called a few family members and made a group on Facebook to share updates with. My husband got in his ‘scrubs’ and they wheeled us away.
This section was different then my first because it was planned. They had me walk into the OR which was nerve racking enough. It’s crazy to walk in and see it all. They did my spinal and I laid on the table while they got me situated. Everyone was so calm and nice. Talking with me trying to help me calm down. My dr came in happy and said I was doing great and she was ready to get started. They let my husband in and started getting to work. Delivery was different this time because of all these COVID rules. We didn’t get a photos together in the OR, of her coming out or of my husband walking her to the nursery but were able to take some. It’s crazy being ‘alone’ in the hospital but a bit relieving at the same time. We will get to go home today and baby sister will get to meet big sister. I’m so excited to see how that goes. But for now meet miss Sarah Kimberly! She is 5 lbs 7 ounces and 17 inches small. I’ve never held such a small baby! We will definitely have to get us some premie clothes once’s we get home! Sorry for the lengthy story! Will add some photos when our daughter gets to meet her sister. I
Update!
Her big sister thought that Sarah was a baby doll at first and tried to take her from me but soon realized once we unwrapped baby and she started to move and cry! It was super sweet. Let the journey of two under two begin!
