Do you think a Volkswagen (2020) is good for a 16 yrs old first car?

i would NEVER consider giving a 16 year old anything other than a used car. just starting out driving, it’s higher change that they’ll get into a fender bender

I don’t think brand new cars should go to teenagers. They should have a used car. Just my opinion though.

That is way too nice of a car. As a teen driver myself, I have gotten into 3 car accidents (only one of which was my fault oops) and I feel shitty enough damaging my SUV. I don’t think I could recover from damaging a car that gorgeous.

Definitely get a used car for a first car.

Kids these days are lucky!!! I got a 91' Corsica as my first car... I was born in 91'. I wouldn't get my child a brand new car as their first car, the insurance rates are going to be ridiculous and if your 16 y/o gets into an accident it's going to be even more on the insurance.

And I forgot to mention that my explorer when you put it in park it would roll until it actually went in park. My s/o stopped at a gas station which was kinda on a hill and he got out and it started rolling backwards almost into the road. He had to run back and hit the breaks. We had a hell of a time with that thing.

I was lucky enough that my dad helped me get the vehicles I had. I was lucky enough to never get tickets and have never been in an accident. The newest car I have ever drove that was my daily driver which is what I have now my s/o got for me is my 04' Land Rover Discovery. But I've had some really bad ones. I had a 95' Ford explorer that you had to put your foot on the gas and break when stopped so it didn't stall out went through 2 transmissions. I had an Oldsmobile which the frame separated from the body... That was a bad one, I was on a main road (I'm from the country) and my trans dropped in the middle of the road as I was driving 😒. My dad worked at a scrap yard so he would always get me free cars that ran like crap. When I met my s/o he would let me drive his truck and he would drive my death trap explorer. It had a piece of wood to hold up the front seat. As I explained about the stopping. It leaked coolant so bad that my 20 minute drive to work I'd have to put a whole gallon in and another before I left work. My vehicle now is amazing, sucks on gas but it seats 7 and is a good trip vehicle. I also technically own my s/o truck but its his daily driver which is an 06' Dodge Dakota. I love that truck, I drove it almost through my whole pregnancy. At the end his dad gave me a 02' Ford Taurus station wagon until I got my Land Rover.

87 cutlass. It was free. My grandpa couldn’t drive any more, all my older cousins already had cars so he decided to give it to me. When that car wasn’t safe (a deer hit me, then 3 accidents - all of them were not my fault) when my grandma couldn’t drive anymore - she gave me her car for free. A 2001 Oldsmobile intrigue. I was incredibly fortunate to get both cars for free. When the intrigue died sept 2018, my mom had gotten a new vehicle and gave me her 2001 Honda odessy. That lasted me a good 8 months before the transmission died fully (she already had put in 3 prior) I finally got a newer vehicle. 😭😭🙏🏻🙌🏻 a 2013 Chevy traverse I love it so much.

I way am I taking out a loan with ridiculous insurance for a brand new driver. Also, our kids will pay for at least half of their first car.
