Does it cost more to transfer 2 embryo’s than just 1

Question

I really really want a double embryo transfer. It’ll be my first IVF and i’m not even sure what my RE will say about this but I plan to advocate for a DET. I would love twins and I am 100% aware of the risks. Of course if only one stuck I’d be just as delighted but I’d still like to try for twins. Anyway, I was jw if any of you ladies have experience with transferring 2 embryo’s over 1 and did it cost the same? Is there anything super different about transferring 2 vs 1 other than the obvious high risk of multiples? Any input helps! ☺️

At my clinic it’s not more expensive. But most clinics do not recommend transferring more than one.

It depends on your doctor. Mine will only do 1 at a time and a lot of places I’ve heard of on here are the same way. Sometimes after multiple failed transfers or women over a certain age they will do 2 but it’s not common.

It depends on your clinic. Mine will only transfer one apart from in exceptional circumstances. There is no cost difference though.

I transferred 2 both times of my Ivf cycles and I have one son who is 3 and I am currently 7 weeks pregnant with one again. Just because you put in two, it doesn’t mean they will both stick. I’m actually glad we put in two. We don’t know which one stuck and if we only put in one, we may not have had success on first tries.
