Today was supposed to be my due date but we chose to have an elective induction done at 39 weeks due to me having precipitous labor with my first. Got to the hospital at 4 am to start the process they get all the necessary stuff done and get me admitted. They check me and I was 3cm and 60-70% effaced, same as I was a few days prior. They tell me to sit tight so they can check my doctors order to see how they want to proceed. Fast forward to 5:45 am they start the pitocin and tell me they're going to up the dose every 15 minutes as long as baby and I tolerate it well. I try to get some rest but it's not that easy when someone is coming in the room every 15-20 minutes. I'm not really feeling the contractions at this point. My doctor comes in at 8 tells me she'll be back in a little while to check me. I think it was around 9 when she came back to check me and there hasn't been much change so she decides to break my water, she also stretches me and strips my membranes so now I'm almost at 4 cm. I'm starting to feel the contractions building up but they aren't really painful. They start getting the room ready for the baby cause things went very fast last time I was in labor. My doctor came back around 10:45 to check me again not much changed, I was a little more than 4 cm. I did tell her and the nurses that last time I went from 4-10cm in an hour so to be available, they all kind of laughed and blew it off. At 11:40 I start feeling a lot of pressure so I ask if I can be checked, my doctor says I'm almost 9 cm but there's a baby in the next room crowning so she's going to take care of that first then she'll be back to check on me. Not even 10 minutes later I feel his head and I tell my fiance to go get someone cause baby is coming now. The nurse rushes in but my doctor is still in the other delivery room so the on call resident comes in to check and she she's babys head and before she could even get gloves on he comes out, without me pushing. Afterwards everyone was like "wow you really know your body and how things go with you" I was like yeah cause the same exact thing happened with my first son. Here is Alexander Joseph "AJ" born April 15 at 11:52 am, weighing in at 6 lbs 15 oz 19.5 inches long! If you made it the whole way to the end thank you for reading and good luck to all the other mamas!
