Pushing Covid-19 too far?

The media is now saying that the virus could become worse in the fall. We’ve heard that it has its own time line and there can’t be a set time to give people for when the virus will subside, but do you think they’re pushing the time line too far when they should be taking it day by day and being more focused on the ill, and studying the virus and ways to keep it from spreading as well as a possible vaccination?

This isn’t new, and it isn’t too far. 
It’s exactly what happened in 1918. The virus appeared in the late winter/early spring, died down in the summer, and resurged even deadlier in the fall. 
Do we know that’s what will happen this time? No, this is a novel virus. It’s new, and no one really knows what will happen. However, the studying the 1918 pandemic can give us guidance to potentialities, and modern research can tell us whether we may be headed on the same path or not. Right now, it’s looking similar, but that guidance may change. 
Various media outlets handle the topic with differing levels of skill, but to anyone who has been following the news closely they’ve been talking about this for months. It was brought up repeatedly around the time Trump was talking about wanting to see packed Easter services.

The Director of the CDC said this; he’s a virologist, so knows more than the rest of us. He basically said that it’ll be a flu/COVID season, which would make it worse for the hospital system, and states should start preparing now for it, in particular focusing on flu vaccines to free up hospital beds for COVID patients. 
The articles I’ve read aren’t fear mongering, just advocating for being prepared.

The media isn’t saying that. The CDC is saying that. It’s actually quite possible that you can get this virus again even after you’ve already contracted it. Some researchers are saying immunity may only last 1-3 years so this virus may stick around and come back in waves just like the flu. That’s why vaccines are important. They don’t have all the data yet to presume absolutely certainty about any of this including a timeline but what they are saying is definitely a possibility.

We need to be educated and we need to be prepared. Proactive, not reactive. Better to prepare for it now than to be taken by surprise when we get another wave of Covid 19 cases in the fall

No, I think it’s pretty logical to assume that it will return in the fall. The flu does every year. This is a virus like many others. The media is getting their info from doctors who study this stuff for a living, so it’s not them just making it up. It’s the CDC, Dr. Fauci, Dr. Birx, and other qualified medical professionals who are trying to warn the public ahead of time. 🤓

Depending on the media outlet, there’s way too much editorializing. No one really knows or can make predictions about this virus so I tend to stick to just looking at the daily and regional stats and when our local/national government make official statements.
