Taken Away

So my SO and I have been together for 2 years, 6 months into our relationship I got a job offer that I would’ve been stupid to pass up so I ended up moving in with him as it was less of a commute to work. We were living in the basement apartment of his parents house and it needed a lot of work, they agreed to let me live there rent free as I was paying to clean and redo the entire basement out of my own pocket

After living there for 6 months my SO was offered a job in the city with board but I won’t be able to go with him so I decided to move in with my parents since I won’t be able to afford rent with only my income, I ended up making a job change and got a promotion which landed me a job closer to my parents house anyway so I was able to walk to work instead of carpooling, taking taxis or buses

My SO recently got transferred back to our small city and has been here since February whenever he would come to visit we would stay in the apartment at his parents now with him back we’ve been pretty much living there again

I had a week off and took it upon myself to deep clean the entire basement apartment, we moved furniture and repainted, I even rented one of those bins for all the garbage that had been collected down there from his family.

During the time we weren’t living there my in laws had allowed my niece to use it as a play area, we were planning on ripping up the carpet as it had loads of paint on it and a funky dog scent

We ripped up all the carpet and put down hardwood floors (which was quite a hefty price)

The agreement was once we finished redoing the basement I would be moving back in full time

This past week I had to work 4 shifts in a row so decided to stay at my parents as it’s closer, my SO and I were goofing off with filters on SnapChat after my shift and I noticed all his photos were of him in the laundry room which I thought nothing of as they’ve been cleaning the laundry room

When I asked about it my SO then told me the reason for them cleaning the laundry room is because that’s where our bedroom would now be, I was pissed and still am I just redid the floors in the apartment, bought brand new plates and cutlery as his brother broke ours, I just bought a new microwave and kettle and brought up our pots and pans just to be told we don’t have the apartment anymore

I feel lost and I don’t know what to do I haven’t spoken with my SO in two days because I’m so pissed off and don’t want to start a fight with him, what would you do if you were in my position?

Edit; my SO isn’t upset about it because he knew, he watched me put thousands of dollars into making it our own space all while knowing it wasn’t going to be our space. As for his parents they agreed to let me do the work before moving back in as a lot of mine and my SO’s things are still in storage so I wanted everything fixed before moving back in we agreed on monthly rent and everything and were gonna write up a ‘contract’ I was suppose to move in this weekend and my brother in law moved into our space two days ago

The money used to fix the basement was the money I’ve been saving to pay first and last months rent on a place so now I’m screwed
