So hear me out... I have posted before but now that I have the ring I need opinions.

To begin I am not a superstitious person. If my marriage doesn’t work out it’s going to be because it was never meant to be not because a diamond was picked out for someone else. That’s just silly.

My current fiancé was supposed to be get engaged to a women about 8 years ago. They ended up going separate ways but after he had purchased a ring. She NEVER wore the ring. At least from what he tells me which he’s been pretty adamant.

He has a really good quality stone, priced at 12k and it’s the EXACT cut I would’ve picked. I agreed to use the stone because we have tried to sell it and we would only get 1/2 of what it’s worth or if we traded it I’d be stuck w a yellow looking diamond.

In my opinion the stone is perfect. So I customized my own setting and band.

He is not sentimental and he’s said many times a diamond is just a diamond. And I know for a fact he loves me and my daughter.

The jewler also said half these diamonds are used so chances are if you have a ring yours might be a used diamond too ;) lol

Check out how it looks. I love it. I wouldn’t want less of a ring.

After reading what I wrote would you have done the same thing?

I wouldn’t have wanted lesser on the quailed of the diamond bc we did swap it out and it was too yellow in the sun. So I asked for the old one back. If my ring was less in price and size I’d prob feel more slighted haha

Side note: I also feel like God works in mysterious ways. He knew this man was meant for me in the end. He also knew since forever this is the exact style and cut I wanted in a ring. So maybe when he was picking it out years ago, it was subconsciously for me since it was never given to her. Ya never know!

What’s the diff too. I either keep the bad ass stone OR use money that was spent for her to buy my ring. Same concept here. Don’t you think?

UPDATE: first, thank you all for sharing your different perspectives and opinions. It is nice to see others perspectives and hear opinions just to see how others view this topic. Some people had very good points, while other were purely emotional based lol anyways I have since talked to my fiancé and told him how the ring really made me feel. He was so open to that idea and told me money doesn’t matter. I can even go up in size. I have an appt this Tuesday to trade the diamond for the same one just slightly bigger.

side note: this was never his fault or lack of effort. Some people are not sentimental and some people view diamonds as objects, nothing more. He asked me about it in the beginning if I’d want to use it and I agreed to it.

When I told him I didn’t feel comfortable without hesitation he told me to whatever makes you happy bc this is for a lifetime. It’s my fault for not conveying my feelings. I do this a lot bc I have a passive personality. So glad I spoke up this time. And relieved.
