What qualities do you like in your dom?

I'm a submissive and want to know what characteristics I should look for.

I love that my Dom/bf is very calm, very loving. His rules for me often include things that are for my benefit. He'll order me to do something relaxing or something regarding self care. We also do weekly spankings that I love. I get them other times too but I know every Friday I'm going to get it. I think it's really nice how we interact.
If you're new to this kind of thing I'll share some red flags with you that I've encountered. 
My ex had no respect for safe words and thought it was hot somehow to threaten to ignore the safe word. I stopped everything right there. If someone ever does that to you, they're threatening actual harm. If it's non sexual, they're threatening to abuse you. If it's something sexual, they're threatening to rape you. I couldn't stand for that. It's one thing to like intense scenes. It's quite another to take away someone's right to consent or withdraw consent.
This ex would also only make selfish rules. I'm all in favor of a Dom enjoying themselves. The whole D/s lifestyle is meant to be for the pleasure of those involved. But subs need care for their health and mental state too. A good Dom will understand that.

I like to be respected & taken care of. I like to have a mutual respect for one another. Where we work as a team. If I feed in to his desires, fetish, role play, ideas of a perfect household/ spouse, am open-minded with anything he wants to tell me or discuss. Try something new he's been craving. If I take care of his needs, desires & accommodate his requests. ( Within reason) I like him to spoil me back. I won't ask for it. I expect it. My husband & I have a mutual nonverbal agreement between the two of us. He spoils me with foot rubs, tells me thank you, calls me beautiful, makes dinner occasionally, helping clean occasionally to ease my stress, wearing cologne I find appealing, buying me things, taking me on dates, & yes... accommodates what I ask for sexually. Listens to me guide him on what I do & do not like in the bedroom.
