Why is there never any proper sex Ed?

Hi I’m 16 and have never had sex. I don’t know anything about my hymen rly and my school never taught me what a STI was- is losing your virginity good? Does it hurt? Do you bleed or tear? What happens? How do I talk to my parents about having safe sex and starting birth control? My boyfriend is keen to have sex (he’s not a virgin) but he is extremely respectful and will only have sex with me when I’m ready. Please help me out

Hymen is just a kind of skin in the vagina that can be broken for the first time while having sex. It can also be broken in other ways like when riding a bike, or any kind of force against that area. And STI (or STD etc) is a disease you can get from any kind of sex (including oral). Some are easily treatable and go away, some are treatable but are with you for life (ie: herpes), and some can be deadly (ie: HIV/AIDS). So you need to use protection but also have clear communication with whoever you are going to have sex with. Have they ever had an STD, have they been tested, etc. Also, if you're not on birth control please consider using a condom and not relying on things like ovulation or the pull out method. Make sure the condom fits properly, as in it is not too big or too small on the male (if you're with a male). If the condom is too big, it can slip off, if it is too small it can burst. 
Everyone's experience is different when losing their virginity. Some are in pain and bleed, some people experience neither. Ask your partner to be gentle and go slow. I definitely would never recommend any kind of aggressive sex in the beginning. You are in control! Make sure your partner knows you all are playing by YOUR rules. 
Also, if you do want birth control it depends on your location how you can go about it. Some places you can go by yourself as a minor but a lot of the times you need your parent. If you're in the US, you can always call the Planned Parenthood of your state and ask questions. 
My final advice is this... please dont have sex until you are emotionally/mentally ready and have the proper education. I commend you for seeking education, it is really important and it's awesome that you're doing it. I never had sex ed in school and never got anything from family, I had to learn on my own.

I personally think sex education needs to come from the parents. Sit down with one or both of your parents and tell them you are interested in learning about sex and everything that comes with it for future use. That you want to understand everything so you don't make any wrong decisions.
