Should I keep trying? Teachers, help!

Question

No luck after TTC #1 for 4 months. I really want to keep trying, but as a teacher I don't want to have a baby right around the time school starts next year. I'm debating on waiting to start trying again in June. I'm so torn! Are there any teachers that have gone through it and offer up any advice?

At this point, trying for 10 months now, we will welcome a baby any month of the year with open arms! I'm a Prek4 teacher and  I used to have these thoughts, trying to plan around school things/plan the timing especially bc my husband coaches high school football (busy busy fall schedule) but after 2 miscarriages we don't care anymore and will be very thankful to even get the chance to have a baby! That's how I choose to look at it now, good luck! Xx 😊

Tayler, I didn't know all this was going on with you and your husband as well. We have been trying about 4 months now , and I'm pretty sure I had a chemical pregnancy last month and now I'm 5 days late AGAIN. I agree, as a teacher I always wanted to plan around the school year, but now I don't care as long as I'm pregnant. 🙏

I'm also a teacher and we are still trying this month. If it doesn't work out we are just going to wait till the next year. I really do want to have a baby in the summer, but I'm okay with trying one more month!

I had my daughter August 8. I was due the 29 and school started August 18. It was really nice to have the worse part of being pregnant in the summer because I didn't have to work! Then I got 12 weeks off from the start of school so she was a little older when i go back (my first day back is monday) but it's just a 3 day week, one full week, and then thanksgiving! Then just 3 weeks until winter break it is going to be a good transition back in. I would say keep on trying! My friend had her baby July 7 and she got 12 weeks from the start of school too!

I would keep trying! I know it's so hard to think about being away from your students at the beginning of the year- but once you have a baby in your arms it won't phase you nearly as much! I teach third and am expecting our first in May. We got lucky with timing... But I'm already entertaining the idea of extending my leave to the beginning of the year. Trust me- once you find out there's a babe on board, your other set of kiddos lovingly take a back seat to your own! Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

I had a miscarriage a year ago on December 9th. We were due in July and I thought it was going to be perfect because I wouldn't have to take maternity leave, I would get full pay, etc. etc. Well we have been trying ever since the miscarriage and still no luck, only chemical pregnancies. Hitting that just about year mark of infertility made me realize that we can't plan out our lives. If we plan too much, it doesn't leave much room for surprise. So for us, we will take the pregnancy whenever it happens! Even if it means my due date would be the first day of school. 😊 But of course to each their own and I wish you luck on this lengthy and grueling journey or TTC!!

I am not a teacher but stopped trying and will resume in December. I had an August baby and I was so hot and miserable those last 2 weeks. Plus, it is weird, but I would feel badly if they shared a birthday. Idk.

I would keep trying to. You never know. Your doctor could take you off work early too if there are any issues.
