How should I handle loud neighbors?
My neighbors across the hall are unbelievably loud. It's a couple and their two young teenagers.
Every time they go up and down the stairs, the run, jump, stomp (wood stairs, super loud). I can maybe understand the kids running and racing up the stairs, that's kids. But the parents are just as loud going up and down the stairs.
They slam the doors. Their front door and the door leading out to the stairs. I honestly don't even know how they do it. The door going out to the stairs has the hydrolic thing, so it can't slam unless someone forcefully does so. The way they slam the doors sounds like when you go to shut a door, then the wind all of a sudden picks up and rips the door out of your hand. It sounds like this every single time they close the door. Of all hours.
When they are out in the hall, they are always talking loud, yelling, on the phone. On top of all this, they just got a dog that won't stop barking. I get that dogs bark and it's harder to keep them from doing so. I have 2 dogs myself. It's just a bit frustrating because it's like, of course they had to find a way to make even MORE noise lol.
I have never in my life met people as loud and inconsiderate as this family. I don't understand how it's even possible to be this loud. I can't even imagine what the people living below them have to deal with.
I don't want to report them to the office. I feel like that's going too far. I understand things like this come with living in an apartment, but this is beyond normal noisy neighbors. Oh, and on a semi-unrelated note, the husband is tracking in globs of mud into the hallway every day. I don't know what he does for work, but the hallway is always covered in mud and dirt. Maintenance vacuums once a week, so it's clean for like half a day each week.
Should I write a note and leave it on their door? I don't like confrontation. If I do leave a note, they might assume it's from me. There are only 4 apartments on each floor, so it's not hard to figure it out.
