Confused - birth control questions

So I've never been on birth control before. But now I've got 2 kids and we're done. Waiting for elective surgeries to come back so hubby can get snipped. For the mean time, I went on birth contol.

I just had my baby March 2nd, so at my 6 week check, I got my bc prescription (pill). I started taking it the next morning. I did the quick start method, so I haven't had a period since giving birth. And I know bc can cause spotting and breakthrough bleeding.

In my first week, I started having some blood show up when wiping. Once in a while it comes onto my pad. So now I've started my 2nd week and still having blood.

My question: do I consider this a period? Or what is it? I'm so confused.
