Birth control horror story
Can anyone else not take any form of hormonal birth control? When I first tried birth control I was 15-16 it was the pill and it had such negative side effects on my body so my doctor decided to stop it. I stopped taking it and it took over a year for my body to get back to normal. Then when I was 18 I got into a serious relationship and talked to my doctor and decided to try an iud. Let me tell you, I had it in for 4 days. My mom, my brothers, and my boyfriend thought I was going to die. I couldn’t even speak full sentences without slurring my words or dozing off. The first day wasn’t bad, the second day I went to work and had the WORST cramps which I know is a side effect, and work sent me home because I couldn’t even stand up straight. The third day the cramps were gone but my body was so drained of energy that I couldn’t even keep my eyes open for more than 20 minutes. I had the worst feeling, I really can’t describe it but the closest thing I can relate it to is dissociating and it was a 24/7 feeling. My mom decided to take me to the er because she was worried and she knew that wasn’t normal. I could literally feel the iud in my uterus. So when we got to the er the doctor checked the iud and said it was in place. I was crying BEGGING her to take it out dozing in and out and they told me only my obgyn could take it out. Mind you this was on a weekend and my obgyn was closed. So Monday came and I called my doctors office and the nurse told me “you just got it, I really don’t think you should come get it out.” So after me crying to her for 20 minutes about how this thing was literally killing me she decided to make me an appointment to take it out. When I got there the doctor looked so disappointed in me that I came to get it out I think she literally didn’t say more than 3 words to me that visit. When she was taking it out it took her 20 minutes because it was literally becoming imbedded in my uterus. It seemed like my body was trying to reject it. After that experience I don’t think I’ll ever try any form of hormonal birth control again. Don’t get me wrong, I still practice safe sex.
*disclaimer- I’m not posting this to scare anyone, I just want to see if anyone can relate to this situation. Everyone’s bodies are different, and if you love you’re form of birth control, that’s awesome!*
