It's a completely personal choice. 
I love having a big family but that's my choice. My cousin is more than happy with just one child.

I think it depends on the person. I know adults who are only children who didn't mind, and some who wish they had had siblings. Most of the reasons for wishing they had siblings was to have family still with them when their parents pass on.

But if you feel your family is complete with one, then I wouldn't add another child unless you're sure. We knew we wanted more than one, both of us came from families with 3 kids.

Perfectly fine. My mum was an only child that was a little spoilt but she turned out fine and grew up in a small community so was never a lonely kid. It's a little odd not to have family on her side but her friends are my aunties and uncles. My best friend is also an only child and her friends are like siblings to her which is really cool but odd for me as someone with siblings.

As someone who's one of three, didn't get much attention growing up and didn't get along with siblings the 'have another kid so they're not lonely' thing is a poor reason. You can't guarantee your kids' personalities are going to work together. As adults we're as close as friends but growing up we hated each other and it drove my parents half mad. I also have friends with similar experiences where their sibling rivalry was a lot more than just not getting along, their personalities just clashed constantly and as adults they can't stand each other.

Obviously sometimes it works and sometime it doesn't but my point is that you should only have more than one kid if you want to, not so the kid has a buddy. Get a dog or a cat if you're scared the kid might get lonely.

I have 2 sisters and I wish I had more :))) I was the only child tip I was 12, I loved it, but I loved it even more when my parents decided that it's time for another baby :) I like having a bigger family, I hope I will be able to have a big family myself, but if someone only wants one child, why not just one? It's a very personal decision, and everyone has different situations, so yes, it is OK to have only one child )

Of course its okay! I'm an only child and I love it. You have as many or as little kids as you want! Dont let anyone tell you otherwise! 
People say only children are spoilt, but I don't think I was spoilt, I just didn't have to share my mum and dads attention with anyone else, and by the tome i got to nursery I knew about sharing and that I had to do it. i'm not going to lie I probably had tantrums when I didn't get my own way - but what child doesn't :-)!

I am on this situation right now. We have a daughter and everyone thinks we need another one for all the reasons people have mentioned and I just really only want one child.
