Tricare and MaterniT21 test?

Hey ladies, I know that tricare doesn’t cover the MaterniT21 test unless your high risk (which I am not) so I won’t be covered. I was told I could do a survey at the end and only pay $300 instead of the out of pocket $1,100. However, it says it’s $300 “per test”. Is there more than one test that is ran? Or is it one test for multiple screenings? I don’t want to commit to this then end up getting charged more than $300 thinking it was all just one test. Does anyone have experience with this?

What is Materniti21? I have tricare. If it’s a genetic test, the one that tricare pays for is the quad screen. If you get a “positive” on that, they’ll pay for further testing.

I did the Maternity21 test and it tested for various things. I would double check though to be sure for your Drs office before you commit

Do you know what company they’re wanting to test with? I was going to do the test and they wouldn’t cover it. So I believe I did it through Harmony and with Tricare whatever they cover is what you pay. If they don’t cover anything then you don’t pay anything. That’s how it was in 2018 anyways. I also did it a couple months ago and never received a bill. I also have Tricare.

I have tricare but I’m considered high risk so they’ve covered everything for me so far.  I did the nipt test and it was one thing of blood.  I’d ask to talk to billing and see how much it’d be before doing any testing.  I also ended up doing an amnio with the full chromosome panel as well and Tricare covered that because of the results of the nipt test.  Also just see if they can submit it to Tricare for preapproval and it might get approved you never know.  The hospital I’m delivering at said they didn’t accept Tricare but when I called Tricare they said that they were in network and approved the referral.  I have Tricare Prime retiree though since I was medically retired.
