Thoughts on Eleanor vs Eleanora?

My husband and I liked the name Eleanor, but I don't love that it has become SO popular. Recently I saw the name Eleanora on a poll in this group, and I can't stop thinking about it! I think the 'a' on the end adds a cute little feminine twist on an already well-known name. However, my husband disagrees. He says it doesn't look like a real name and reminds him of annoyingly misspelled names for the sake of being unique. 
So what do you all think? Is it a sweet variation or a trendy misspell?

I don’t hate it but adding the a makes it look a little off to me, like it has too many letters ??? Maybe Elenora or something but that doesn’t look right either. It’s probably just me. They are both good choices ❤️

I'm definitely biased because Eleanora is one of our top two names for our daughter too 😊 For the record, it IS a real name and is actually the Spanish/Italian version of Eleanor. However, it is traditionally spelled Eleonora. It can be pronounced either Ellie-oh-nora or Ella-nora so I would keep in mind that she may have to correct people regardless which pronunciation you use. I definitely understand your husband's perspective. And the fact that Eleanor is so popular and very close to Eleanora is a big reason why we aren't set on it just yet. The only reason why I would personally choose Eleanora over Eleanor is my Mexican heritage. It would be a name my grandmother would still be able to pronounce without any trouble. Ultimately, you should find something both you and your husband love equally, but if you're dead set on it, you can definitely reassure him that it isn't a made up trendy name! 😊

I’m naming my daughter Eleanor so I’m biased but I LOVE Eleanora too! I say go for it. I think it sounds very classic and timeless.

I don't think it's a misspell but personally I think 4-syllable names are a bit much. Eleanor is cute as it is. 😁
