Would you live in a home with a radon mitigation system if you knew that the radon was brought down to “safe” levels?

Considering buying a home with a radon mitigation system but I have a toddler and I know radon is super harmful...especially for babies and young children.

Why wouldnt you? We bought a home and had the radon mitigation system installed. That house would have lower levels than the one without it.

That’s the whole point of the mitigation system - to make the home safe. Some states require testing and mitigation as part of home sales and some don’t. Some states requires homes be built with them from the start. Be grateful the system is already in and you don’t have to pay to add it. That can be pricey!

Yes and I already have. Literally every home in the town I live in either has a mitigation system already or is required to be tested upon sale and one must be installed if deemed necessary before the sale can go through.

Yep, we do currently. We also have a radon monitor so we can see our levels. No big deal!

In my city, radon is basically everywhere and so if your house doesn’t have a radon thing, you’re still definitely getting exposed. Most houses here do have radon mitigation including mine. I would be more concerned if you were to live somewhere without it

Most homes where I live need a system and to be honest, most people don’t put one in and are fine. So yes, if the system is there, you are safe.

We bought a house with elevated radon levels on the condition that the sellers install the system. They did and 2.5 years later, we’re all still doing fine!
