Did you get pregnant your first ivf cycle?

I’m just reading online that it’s not very good chances and it’s totally getting me down:m. The clinic I’m going through has the best success in our state and made it sound very promising but I like to worry apparently. Did you get pregnant your first cycle? We are doing a fresh cycle. Any stories good or bad are welcome, thanks!!

I’m a surrogate so I’ve never suffered infertility however I’ve done  4 ivf transfers for 3 different couples. Couple 1: fresh transfer #1 and only failed. No testing done on embryos. Couple 2: frozen transfer #1 failed but second frozen transfer worked. Both transfers were with PGS tested embryos but we knew the grade was poor on the first transfer. They underwent a second egg retrieval with a different protocol to get healthier embryos. Couple 3: first frozen transfer worked. Again PGS tested embryos, donor eggs, great quality embryo was transferred. I will say though that I am couple 3’s second surrogate and their first had 2 failed transfers due to embryo quality being poor. 
So I guess, in my experience, embryo quality makes a big difference in success rates, whether the first or whatever # transfer works.

Yes! We had a successful first transfer with our PGS tested baby. We considered a fresh transfer but felt with the money we were spending we should just go all in and get the embryos tested. So thankful we did since I had 6 embryos and the embryologist graded 4 of them as 4Bb and 2 of them 4BC. The PGS testing showed the 4Bbs had severe deformities and missing many chromosomes. If we did fresh they would’ve transferred those ones first and we most likely would’ve had miscarriages. 
Also - loved doing a frozen transfer to give my body a month off of the shots. I had OHSS so it gave my body time to stabilize before transferring.

I did a fresh cycle earlier in the year with donor sperm which failed. We only had one good embryo which we transferred but it didn't stick. I did donate half my eggs retrieved tho, so that may have affected our chances as we only started with half the eggs, but who knows! Onwards and upwards for a second cycle once my clinic opens again!

Hi Angela! My very first frozen embryo transfer was on April 21st and it failed, unfortunately.  It was a medicated cycle (birth control, progesterone in oil injections, estradiol pills and progesterone suppository morning of transfer). Everything went great so my doctor was so surprised when it failed.
I got my period yesterday and will be going in tomorrow for day three bloodwork and ultrasound. I’m jumping into a new frozen embryo transfer but this will be a natural cycle which means it’ll go based on my body. I get regular periods and I ovulate regularly (Our issue was male factor infertility) so I’ll be monitored closely for my surge, I’ll do one trigger shot to ovulate and a few days after ovulation, my embaby is transferred. My lining will be monitored prior to transfer to ensure my body is doing that accordingly and I’ll take progesterone vaginal tablets starting day of transfer until I’m six weeks, assuming it works 🤞🏼
My doctor said maybe my body didn’t accept the medication from my medicated cycle or my embryo wasn’t viable. I did genetic testing on my embryos and that’s still not a guarantee unfortunately ( I don’t regret getting my embryos genetically tested though!) I have three more babies on ice.
I have met women on this that have been successful the first time which made me so hopeful and even after my first one failed, I’m still hopeful because you read a lot of success stories even if the first one doesn’t succeed.

My saying was always expect the worst and hope for the best.     Keep expectations low so the positive is even more exciting when you get it.  
IVF isn’t a guarantee.   Your doctor can give you better odds based on your personal situation but I went in knowing I had about a 60% chance of a live birth.    
It ended up taking me 3 retrevials and 2 frozen transfers for my success.
