Essential oils marketing and uses

I see these essential oil people pushing the use of oils, not just as a fragrance but for ingestion, to prevent and cure ailments. I love essential oils and use them in candles, lotions, for cleaning and my diffuser but I would never ingest them. They are extremely volatile compounds that are very concentrated(which can be dangerous and harsh on the organs) . It is widely advised to not ingest oils but I still see these companies and mlm "ambassadors" pushing the use of oils for curing illness. What do you guys think? Are these claims okay? Is it negligent for them to be advising ingestion of oils or is it alright for them to market the oils as cures and health "boosters"/preventative treatment?
